Surf i usually fish in newfound when we go north. my brother lives in wentworth and his roommate has had 2 shanties out in the past.  i havent fished it in a few years but we may be making a trip for the rotary derby this year.

the last time we fished newfound we were in the shanty looking at the camera when 4 snowmobiles pulled in. 3 of them came in to look at the TV screen and the other one cleaned out the live well we had. 4 cusk  3 lakers. not a very good day!

In the F&G Digest, page 9 under important laws, it states no live fish in your possesion without a Bass toury entry slip or aquaculture permit or a importer permit for each species ! Myself, I grew up using live wells on the ice, but not anymore !  :%$#!:

If you're gonna keep it, kill it and eat it, then catch another!

stove is done. and installed in the shanty. I'm trying a new compressed wood brick for fuel, its cheap and easy to haul and supposed to burn longer than hardwood with less ash.

Just curious, what kind of temps are you getting on top of the rotor, hot enough to fry eggs you think ?

my 14 year old son  scoffed the egg down and said boy i can't wait till icefishing season. hey dad are we going to sleep in the bobhouse this year. my reply was i can only hope. no sooner did i respond and both my girls said "Daddy can we go to" blinking their big brown eyes. the only question i have is how do i make that old popup camper sleep 4. back to the drawing board. oh and the carbon monoxide detector never went off. so the wood stove is pretty air tight.

sweet design!!! can I ask though, what do you have between the 2 tanks for ash to drop through into. I'm presuming a grate of some sort. And can I ask, with the hot ash dropping through, how hot does the bottom tank get. Awesome stove...

i have about 200 quarter inch holes drilled in the bottom of the propane tank for the ash to drop through so its really fine ash. no hot klinkers go through so it doesnt get hot at all. just the heat transfer from the burn pot that makes it warm. you can put your hand on it.

thanks, wish I had a wood burner in my perm. I love that heat. If only I had a welder.
