Tiber or Frances, both have great late season ice/perch.  But the benefit of Tiber would be live bait!

this would be sweet, Tiber, i hear its a good one in the spring

Team Captain and two members.  One member spots Sat and one spots Sun...I like it...
If I\'m not fishing, I\'m probably thinking about fishing...And if I\'m thinking about fishing, I\'m probably not getting much else done so, I might as well go fishing...Yeah, I just said that!

The captain would also have to be a spotter and take his turn so there would be equal time spent fishing between all three members of the team. So in the next event the last guy to spot would fish and so on.

It would be nice to find a way were the spotter gets to fish and it counts towards his team or the team he is spotting.  As long as he is sitting right there no one is going to cheat.  The one thing about the spotter he will get to see what different teams are using for jigs and fishing style.  I guy could learn a lot.

By letting the spotter fish could help eliminate some teams having "Home Field" advantage, let them get togeather before wiegh in and combine 10 fish like the Perch Assault.

I'm with you, it would be hard to take time off work and travel across the state and not get to fish.  Its also a lot easier for teams of two to travel. We are bringing two teams to LMR from BT and can travel together in one vehicle.  If we had to bring teams of 3 and one guy had to sit out each day I'm not sure we'd make that long of a treck (another vehicle, another hotel room).  Also, what happens if a team doesn't attend every event in the circuit, the rotation might get unfair, teams might not be able to bring the same 3 guys, etc.   It would be really nice if we could trust each other in competition.

I agree with ketchnrelease too. I'm in Manhattan and always fish the CF derby, but never the tourney becase no one wants to go sit and watch (even for 4 hours). Me and my wife have desided to fish the perch assault and are going to drive up and pre fish the weekend before(pres day weekend) go home Monday, then come back Friday, doesn't bother me to drive but if I have to drive that far to sit and watch for a day, I'm more than likely to go somewhere else, regardless of the competition and possible money. We're not pros(at least I'm not) If I can FISH and make some money and braggin rights, I'm in. Just adds to the fun. And if I don't catch a fish well we'll think about what to do different next year and I will still have fun.  If I have to travel six hours sit and watch someone else hammer fish all day, I lose interest real quick. I personally am doing it for the fun(witch I hope we all are) and the chance of placing, having some bragging rights is a bonus.

I think it is a fantastic idea, the fishable waters shoud be chosen by lottery/wild card draw, be obscure, and you only get one day to  test your techniques prior to the derby.
if you're too busy to go fishing, you're too busy

ok guys i think that this is geting off track and out of hand.  lets all play nice. negative feed back will only push guys like me away from this event and radio shows with the negative talk from you. you are going to be a host of a radio show that you want people to support and you talk like this.....  he is obviously just a rookie probaly a child, and is just trying to show his love for the sport you should be glad hes not out driving around on the ice running through peoples shacks, like i read kids are doing on other states forums. on the other hand lets keep on track this is the purch tourney thread. if you want a trout tourney lets orginise it in a seperate thread.
