The problem with this is; Why bother? After you have one(1) fish entered your in the drawing until your name is drawn or the tourney is over.

yes it is LW have fine tuned it down to a few well run tourney.
thanks to all that got out and fish'd for the tourney and the sponsors and the staff, putting extra time in to making it fun and free for all!!!!!!!

Thanks buddy. Time and weather haven't let me get out much, but Saturday helped make up for it a little. TGF is gone all week! Man, maybe I'd better get back out there

Thanks. Guess the story goes, I ended up getting about ten fish that day over 10 pounds, 2 over 20 lbs and 2 over 30 lbs. I always triple my hole when I know there's a chance for a decent fish.

Like with every fish, I saw the fish come onto the fish finder screen and my heart immediately starts thumping out of my chest in anticipation, concentration levels go up and my eyes dart from my rod, to the screen, back to the rod, to the screen... Many times the fish swim away. This time I lucked out and the fish hit.

Seemed like I'd been fighting that particular fish for an eternity, lots of give and take of line, when I got another look at my fish finder and seen the fish was still on the bottom. When the fish couldn't go any deeper it decided to move horizontally and moved out of the transducer cone so I couldn't tell where it was for awhile. When I started gaining line on him he made about three runs back to the bottom. Told myself to be patient. At one point I saw the release of air on the finder screen, which is always a good sign (releasing it's air bladder).

Finally got it to the hole and got a look at him, but couldn't get him turned. About half a dozen times the fish slid past the hole and I couldn't get his head turned up (nerve racking). Finally got 'er landed. Already had my tape and camera ready to go. Very quickly snapped a couple pics and slid 'er back in the water to fight another day. I have caught bigger fish, but have never kept a single one. They're too old and valuable (30-50 yrs old)! If I were to mount one it would be a replica mount. I didn't have my cradle with me so I didn't weigh any of the fish either. I've heard that if you hang a fish that big vertically it can damage their insides. Always use a cradle or net.

Anyway, like Wyofarmer said, it isn't over 'til the fat (long) fish sings. Either way, it's a nice fish and had a great time catching it

nice fish Mountainman and good to know it will fight again. to bad it was not a little bigger to beat the record of BCs fish last year. im happy to see people catching big ones like that and releasing.

Not bad this year, a clean sweep on the burbot and a possible first place on the brook trout. It looks like it's over 21" and top place is 20 13/16, we'll see! Too bad about the lake trout but there's always next year.

Thanks guys....couldn't catch a big laker so had to settle for a leaping brookie. He bites once, I try to set hook but line is slack, I think I lost him but he comes flying 2 feet out of the hole and lands on the ice flopping and spits the airplane jig back at me.

I had more of a fight from a little 5 incher.

Hats off to you MountainMan for a beauty of a laker, or should I say hair off to you

I will hit the barbers sometime this week and pics will follow. Looking forward to next years face off. We will try and get bigger.
