Hi and welcome to the WY ICeshnaty, all of the bait shops we know of are listed in the Info Thread atop the page, but if anyone has info on Alliance, I'll be happy to add it. Don  ;D

Read the rules again. I see why I should not ask for that info.

Glad you made it up there and had some success! Sorry we never met up. Ended up fishing some of the refuge lakes and did pretty well (spent most of the trip sitting in a goose pit though  ;))

I re-posted that info on the Alliance bait shop in the info thread if anyone ever needs it.

BTW, for the guys headed up to Box Butte there's a slot limit for Pike, 28"to 34" must be released above 34' you can keep 1 for a total of nine. 8 of them must be under 28".

Looks fun Jim.

That sure is a big dog you got there.  Forgot his name momentarily but it looks like he had a good time.

Those pike are healthy.  That lake is not very big is it?
Ya Moose, that's Buck the ice hound, I think he likes ice fishin almost as much as goose hunting. the only problem is he wants to grab the fish when they're in the hole and I'm afriad he's gonna get hooked.(again) :P

Got back from two days at Box Butte. Fished 3'-8'  ran non-stop chasing flags. On Wednesday we probably had 50 flags between two of us. Today we fished for 4 hours and probably had 20 flags.

Best results for pike were a shallow presentation about 2' under the ice on 3"-5" suckers. Iced a 16" largemouth on a tipup too! Perch were hard to come by but I didn't move around much. What perch that did come in took a rust colored gitzit tipped with a wax worm.

The group about 500 yards away were out in the middle of the area and sitting in about 8' of water as well. They hadn't caught any pike but many largemouths, 3 blue gill and a couple of perch.

Ice ranged from 7-10". Where trees are sticking out of the water the ice was soft. This cold snap should help sure up the ice in those spots as well.

On Wednesday there was a large group off of Hunter's point. Today there was one group out in the same area.

Am anxious to get to pickling some pike tomorrow!

Bait is available at the shop in Alliance and open 24 hours. They have suckers, frozen smelt, crappie minnows, crawlers, wax and meal worms! Cash only.

On the limit at Box Butte, you can keep 10. Only one can be over 34 and all ten can be under 28.

I like the BIG RED hoodie too Ahab. Maybe last night will help us get a new offensive coordinator!

Looks fun.  Bet the perch don't come out of hiding too often with all those toothy critters.

You would think that, but every time I dropped a lure down a hole, the small fish would show up on the Vex several at a time.  If I used a small jig/wax worm, I would catch a 4" to 6" perch.  Didn't seem to be any vegetation for a hiding place.  I contacted bottom regularly and never brought up any moss or anything.  There seems to be a bunch of small perch everywhere.  Sure hope some of them grow up.

Good fishing,
Keith
