Guys, I was out on the Bay with a couple of buddys and our dogs for 2 hours on Friday afternoon. The only fish we caught was the BIGGEST CRAPPIE I have ever seen, it looked like a dinner plate , had to go a pound and a half, sorry no photo. Caught on a dead minnow 3 feet down in 6 feet of water. Going to try again after work later in the week , let you know what happens.

Nice Slab!

Seen a real variety of fish out of Frenchmans this year but Pike fishin is slow. I'm gonna try again on Friday from about 10am till 2pm.
Don't know how the forcast is gonna hold up callin for rain and 10 degrees. YUCH!!!

Hopefully the rain holds off and I can play catch up with the Pike. Built a new "Quick Strike Rig" (homemade) and I'm dying to try it on my tip up.

Maybe I'll see you out there, look for the green bait bucket. I'm probably gonna try a little south closer to the beach. Caught all my fish there last year but didn't catch any there early this year so I moved a lot with no serious luck.

FRUSTRATED ON FRENCHMANS!!!

Another day, no fish. No one out there caught Jack. My buddy and I are freakin.

Moved around could not find any. Don't know what to think.

The new "quick strike rig" looked great. Released the minnow after 4 hours in perfect shape. I still wonder if it will catch a fish though?

Keep pluggin away for a few more weeks.

Just out of curiosity why do you keep releasing your minnow's live into the bay. I believe that's illegal right?

Just to clarify

I am mearly making refrence to the fact that they have gone untouched by PIKE teeth. Not really releasing them live just untouched. After several hours hanging there on a blood red Owner I'm sure they do not survive after release.

Just a frustrated fisherman not a criminal. LOL.

Good Luck rest of the hardwater season.

Heading to Simcoe Saturday for Fishing for Tyler Tourney.

Something came up and I could not make it. They are using live minnows on a single hook with small split shot.

When does the season end on Frenchmans?

The way I see it Pike is open until March 31st and Perch is open all year. Can anyone confirm?

I would like to get out again if the weather cooperates.

Killed the Perch on Simcoe this past weekend. 4 guys over 200 Perch in 4 hours!!

Thanks for the confirmation. I guess we can keep going as long as this cold weather holds up.

Might go to Simcoe for one last fling on Friday, if not Frenchmans it is.

I too am going to Simcoe this Friday, out of Beaverton with Roys Huts. I am going to Barbados for March break so it could be the last time for whities this year.

My buddy wants to go for Perch on Friday but I haven't caught a whitie in 15 years on Simcoe and would love to try again.

How far out are you going do you know? We are walking so whities may be out of the question. They are not calling for pleasent weather on Friday.

If it doesn't turn out I will go to Frenchmans and finally catch some PIKE.

Positive thinking!!

Good luck and enjoy your vacation.

When you go out from Beaverton it is usually 7-10 kil. to the deep water ( other side of island) . Most rental huts are at least that far.

Things didn't work out for Simcoe today. Went to Frenchmans and shutout again!!! ??? Fished 4.5 hours and no body caught a fish out there. At least 20-30 guys and no action.

I don't know what to say, every Friday no one catches fish.

We'll see what the weather brings us in the future.

How did you make out on Simcoe?

Welcome aboard Ajax

Ice fishing appears to be done for another year!! :'( The worst year for me ever  >:(... Can't explain it, no Pike all year, killed em last year. Blah Blah Blah... ... ...

Ok moving forward. I have been told that as soon as ice out the big pike come in to spawn in the shallows.

As far as I know the best place to access is at the foot of Liverpool. Cross the bridge and hoof it along the shoreline. There should be others around so check them out.

Try Big Sucker minnows if you can get em.

Good Luck

Hey thanks for the help, i went there 2 days ago to check things out and it was frozen over, but it has rained A BUNCH since then so idk. But when you say Big sucker minnows, are you talking about live bait or a lure? sorry or being ignorant about this.

Thanks for the help.

Dead big minnows are best. There is a better place to cast for pike it is at the small park just before the new houses it is  on the west  side of Liverpool. The season is closed for a month (pike) soon.

I agree, Pike will hit live or dead minnows.

Pike season ends on the 31st of this month and re-opens along with pickeral on the First Saturday in May (7th this year).

I was at Tightline last week and they had no big minnows. Call them maybe a new shipment is in.

Good Luck

Went by the Bay today with the dog and kids. Some open water around the marina with about 5 fishermen there. One guy had about a 5 pounder by his side.

Lots of open water over by the park and the mouth. It will be all open soon.

I would leave the minnow about a foot or so above the botton.

Good Luck
