18, only 18 days until the get together!!! WOOHOOO!!! It's getting close, the forecast is good for cold weather, people have signed up for food, some prizes to be donated by Blue Heron Sports in Milton, PA. I can hardly wait!!!

Greetings all,

I'm new to the area (Lehigh Valley) and have never cut a hole in PA. Having spent a couple years in Minnesota, I have most of the essential gear (including a 10" Echo power auger). I was reluctant to keep the auger because I wasn't sure if I would get any use out of it. I'm happy to hear icefishing is alive and well in PA.

I would like to attend on the 22nd, but I'm a little confused by which lake you're referring to. Is it Lake Chillisquauqe or the one a bit south near Washingtonville?

Also, what tackle/bait should I bring? What's the primary fish for this lake?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Yes WalleyeJ, it is Chillisquaque (Song of the Wild Goose), a.k.a Montour Preserve. Coming from Minn. you probably have everything you need if you've done any icefishing there. The lake has pike,bass,channel and bullhead catfish,bluegill,yellow perch, walleye, crappie, and tiger musky. Fishing access is not too bad as there is a boat launch area as well as a picnic area that allows for easy access also with good parking.

A variety of techniques and baits are used here. Tip-ups are pretty common tipped with shiners/minnows as is jigging various lures.
The lake, in my experience, can be pretty tough to fish at times. There are several pieces of structure in the lake particulary out from the fishing pier and along the far shore across from the boat ramp. The lake bottoms out at around 40' towards the dam

Since this is an Electric Only Lake, Do we have to use John t. and Skipper4080's Ice Gators to drill holes, or can I bring my Jiffy?

Reading over the posts from the day I have a few comments to make. Thanks for checking with the Wiggly Worm Cool! I am looking forward to getting an answer! It would be nice to have plenty of prizes again this year! WalleyeJones, scavengerj hit the nail on the head with the reply to your questions! If you have tipups and a a jigging rod or two, you are good to go! Fatheads and shiners are great on the tipups and waxies work well on small jigs for the pannies! Wild, you CAN use your jiffy! Gas augers are allowed on the lake!
