Where?Wethersfield Cove! The cove is at the end of Main St. in Wethersfield. Google yourself up some directions if you have never been there before. It's right off I91. There's a large parking lot that runs along the edge of the water. Easy on, easy off.
When?Postponed from Jan 16'th due to the snow.
Rain date will be the the following Sunday, Jan 23'rd
What's the deal? We're locked in with activities, but WATCH this header post for CHANGES. Sign up here, and tell me WHO is coming with you and WHAT you are bringing. This is intended as a casual day on the ice to meet fellow icers, and have fun.
This event is open to any current IS members, and family and friends who are there with the INTENT of FISHING. There will be women and children with us, along with the general public, so this will NOT be a party on ice. We've always had a good time for everyone. Fish wherever you want in the cove. A group of us tend to park in a circle around structure at "base camp", so feel free to circle the wagons too if you want. We'll be cooking and have plenty of ice toys to show off.
If you are an Ice Chef and want to show off yer skills, bring the grill and let us know if you are cooking for one or more, and what you're bringing. I do ask that if you are cooking for outing members, please bring any serving items required, and provide a garbage bag for disposal. You will need to carry out your trash. Wethersfield does not provide a dumpster at the launch. We want to leave the ice as clean if not cleaner than when we arrived.
If you are fishing this event you must also have your 2011 Freshwater fishing license. Wethersfield Cove is popular and often patroled. Make sure that if you or your family are out there, you are aware of the laws.

http://www.ct.gov/dep/lib/dep/fishing/anglers_guide/anguide.pdfA BIG THANKS TO:Connecticut Outfitters!!!

Wethersfield, CT 06109

Once again Gary and Blaine have generously offered to provide a dozen free shiners to each Team CT member who attends the event. Connecticut Outfitters will be open at 6AM that morning. Simply go in and introduce yourself, letting them know who you are from IceShanty.
I attended their Ice Seminar this morning, and they are definitely ready for the season! Please stop by and support the shop that supports us back by hosting tournaments and events like these!
CT Outfitters hosted events: "The Team from CT-Outfitters will be out there all day. We are planning to demo some augers, some elctronics, a jiggin technique clinic and even do a live fish fry on the ice! Also coming soon will be a schedule for the demos I mentioned above and a group photo op too. Stay tuned..."
UPDATE!"We have some pretty cool additions to the days events! We have decided to hand out
FREE RAFFLE TICKETS ON THE ICE (1 per person). We have two great prizes to raffle off. The first is a
Shappell RV1 single person shelter-sled combo, and the second is a
JIFFY POWER AUGER!No purchase neccessary, but you must be present to win.
Raffle and group photo to be held center ice 11:30am. Fish Fry to follow at 12:30.
Prior to that, during the morning, we will have ongoing on-ice demonstrations of cool new gear: Fishfinders like Humminbird, Vexilar, Marcum. Augers like Jiffy and Strike Master. We hope to have the NEW Jiffy Pro 4 propane auger. And Blaine has agreed to demo/instruct Jigging techniques to anyone interested. To support this we also have (SOME) Jigging rod and reel combos to give away (yes, for free) to anyone coming over for a demo, while supplies last, first come first serve.
Don't forget to visit the store before hitting the cove and ask for a free dozen small or meduim shiners!!
And while this event is not an official "tournament" we will be weighing and photoing any fish brought over to center ice before NOON, and we'll have gift cards for the people with the three largest fish, any species!
This is shaping up to be an event NOT TO BE MISSED, so tell your friends! I know for a fact of a number of guys who'll be set up before dawn...."
For those who have never attended, here's a link to last year's shenannigans:
