Could really feel Winter coming on last night at work. Refreshing, chilly, breath in the air, clear crystal skies with a ton of stars out. I do love Fall weather and the coming of Ice Season!

It was 29 degrees at Gray Rocks last night. Feels good to know this never ending indian summer is slowly subsiding.

hey folks I've been lurking for the last few years and finally decided to join the fun. I fish the lakes in and near C.Gowdy a fair amount so will post ice conditions here. I'm heading up to crystal to check things out sunday and see if I can locate the perch for early ice. I can't stand the waiting!

I've caught a couple of good perch through the ice but never really nailed them.
but I was up Monday for trout and caught 18 perch between 71/2" and 11" most were around 9"
got all of them using a slip sinker rig and a blown crawler.

It's like Christmas all over again. Wish the UPS guy would just arrive with the flip and auger already!  >:(

Anyone have any info on some of the Bighorn water up higher? Might have to make a trip up Red Grade or over Buffalo...

The Green River at Green River is a whopping 34.7 degrees and that will be very close to the high for the day.
It won't be very long now.

I drove up to Sheridan to have some custom zipper work done on my flip-over skin. The factory plastic zipper broke in 2003 and I've been fishing out of it since. Finally called the manufacturing company and I had 3 options. #1 buy the new skin for $50 less than the entire shack costs retail-#2 buy a new shack- or #3 have a custom canvas company instal a new zipper at $60/hour.  The new zipper will be made of copper with some reinforced webbing sewn into the fabric. This should be done next week. I also have some modifications to make.

-Mount some anchor ropes one either side of sled to attach ice anchors.

I also bought a set of Beaver dam tip-ups this year. I've been wanting a set of these forever!
It's slowly coming together, now all we need is some ice.
So many fish, so little time.

Clam Pro TC arrived while I was gone! It's sitting in the garage right now just begging to be put together, but we're planning a run to Rapid and a day "together". Oh well... Obv a Scheels/Cabelas stop is a together stop, right fellers?
