All of this is pretty good ice and about 1" thick, it looks white because of a thin layer of snow cover. The only really milky stuff was next to shore on The Grade.

Templar - around the docks were pretty well frozen......it looks open cause I punched a few holes

East Lake is locked up

Ill be on Monday or Tuesday chasin sumo crappie should be close to 4 inches by then.

I just went for a drive scouting geese, every farm pond under 10 acres is locked up. The bigger ones have the middles open. Backwaters are also covered in skim ice, shouldn't be long!

From the tropical se corner of the state things are still pretty open. Any lake over about 10 acres is still pretty open. All the small ponds skimmed over and held ice for the last 2 days so if you have a really small body to fish it could be sooner than you think even down in this area.

Only problem is I really don't have any spots like that,

All my spots I could still boat fish.

Same with me, all my spots will take another month or so before they ice over. I dont have any farm ponds to fish

Got a report on 2 other sites of hole poppers even pics on hawgz.com. Sounds like the grade, templar, canals, and upper gar all got drilled today, and others are planning on hitting it tomorrow, if one of my buddies decides to go along, i plan on being somewhere over there tomorrow.

I was 1 drilling test holes, I'll be out in the AM. Remember guys theres only 2-3" out there so spread out, I love the guys that think 1 guys out there it's safe next thing you know theres 20 guys out with you. I didn't check the Grade but was 4 guys out and 1 shack. USE caution if you go on Upper Gar little cracking with 2 of us 30 feet apart and I measured 1 3/4" there but there was 4 shacks out on it.

I was going to go to Ottawa this year with Ice Junky and Chowderhead and meet up with some other fellow Ice Shanty members for some awesome first Ice crappie. However it looks like we may not have enough ice until New Years in which case I'm going to take advantage of the new zone 17 regs and fish the Peterborough area for some first ice Crappie.

I drive by George Wyth state park this morning and Wyth lake was still 80% open as well as Brinker(East) lake. gonna be a while for those two yet. Will be checking in on a sand pit I have access to tomorrow. On a side note who hid all the damn Deer?

Everyone I have talked to has said the deer hunting sucks! One guy had a 10 guy party with 20 tags and they shot 1 doe, another had 5 guys with 8 tags and didnt shoot any. Both groups were tagged out on the first day last year.

I sure as heck hope this snow theyre talking about stays away. 3+ Inches on 2 inches of ice would throw a wrench into everything.

Hickory Grove by Colo : Bays iced up and on each side of the grade/tubes is iced otherwise pretty open.

Walked on ice today! Princeton marsh has 1" of ice on it at the south ramp! Too bad there's no fish there

That would put a serious hamper on any ice making for already frozen lakes. Lets just hope its windy and it all blows off the ice.

I'm hoping for wind now till after the snow, keep the big lakes open till Thursday then they can cap. Spirit and West are still wide open but Spirits temps are at or just under 33 so it's ready.

Winter Storm Watch was posted about 3pm for my area for late Monday through Wensday morn, guessing that will be upgraded and extended if the track stays heading our way.

8-12 inches forecasted here monday night through wednesday morning. 25-35 mph winds. Not lookin good! The ramps could be drifted in bad before we even have the chance to drive out. I hope they mis forecast this one but it doesnt look like thats the case. Could be a repeat of the winter a few years back. Good start to ice makin then a foot dump of snow. Not to make it above 10 inches all season.

Walked out on a small lake by Jefferson today, it had 2" around the edges and out on the end of the dock. This snow isn't going to help form ice!
