me either.  maybe 6-7lb biggest.   but they are all that size in hattie.  With some pushing 10lbs.  I lost a real hog a the hole last year.  I think it would have pushed 12lbs.  But just a guess.

I just want to catch one of those and then never go back unless the perch fishing picks up.  It seems like you have to put in some time for a fish or two.  but it could be a trophy

Ya i know, and people are saying Leazenby is fishing good with a 12 pounder being caught last year. Obviously with a lake that small it could very well have been THE BIGGEST in the lake but you never know, OR there's always going to the Granite/crystal/north crow. It would be so much easier if I had been to ANY of them before.

I wouldn't waste my time at Hattie.  It does have a few trout in it still and they are big, but after the derby there probably isn't very many left because there wasn't many before the derby.  I heard only 33 fish were turned in during the two day fishing derby at hattie and about 250 people fished in it.  With 250 people fishing two days, 8 hours saturday and 7 hours sunday that adds up to 3750 hours of fishing.  That is assuming everyone fished both days and all hours of the derby, but probably at least 2500 angling hours were put in with only 33 entries.  That roughly 1 fish for every 100 hours fished.  I know ten people who fish hattie on a consistent basis every year and only one of them has caught a fish there this year, a nice 10lb. rainbow.  Hattie is the next wheatland reservoir # 3 if anyone knows what I mean.  #3 suffered from drought and G&F quite stocking it, eventually the only thing left in the lake was huge trout and carp.  And eventually even the trout are gone,  I haven't heard of one coming from there in a few years.  Hattie will be worthless unless it is restocked and the water keeps rising.  I love the lake and have enjoyed fishing it in the past but is has become the new Dead Sea and another victim of the drought and poor regulation.

Sorry for ranting, but I hate to see the lake in it's current condition.

Fishing is not about life or death, it is much more important than that! And all I have to say is FISH ON baby.

Fished Leazenby for a couple hours today, caught one 14 inch rainbow and missed another one. Ice was between 11 and 16 inches depending on where I was.

I have not been to Hattie for a couple years.  Spring 2008 was the last time I was there.  Is the water level up or down from the 2007-08 levels?  My friend reported last year that they had one day where him and another friend limited out on perch but nothing the rest of the year to speak of in terms of perch.  Just curious, learned a lot about perch fishing on that lake and have learned a lot since then.

The water level is up from 2007-08 last spring of '09 G&F put ten days of water in to hattie. Also the perch fishing out there this year is poor.

I'm done fishing the plains lakes.  Might hit sloans up when it is full again... Just for something quick and easy.

I think Glendo is close enough to go to every time.  I'd rather go up there than dink around with the plains lakes.  You won't catch a ton of fish every time but if you do they'll be quality fish not planter trout.  (I know there are hogs in hattie but I'd rather catch a 10lb catfish than a 10lb trout 8))

The plains lakes are closer to Laramie, but meh.  Glendo is not a bad drive.

I wanted to go out to leazenby early in the year for a brookie but when I drove out there I couldn't find a lake.  Saw a pond ;D ;D ;D

I also couldn't find any place to park? Where do you park when you go there?

I need to hit up sodergreen for some suckers.

You just park in front of the little green gates.
I think cbtrtbum and I are going to hit Sodergreen next time out. I hear there are some dandy browns in there.

Hey Moosejuice- I have some suckers in the freezer.  They are about 12-13" long and I vacuum sealed them.  I plan on using a few for the Fremont derby, but could spare a few.
