Tigers are put there to be taken. No breeding value.

Great job on that fish!! I was fishing there during the summer and lost one on a spinnerbait...that thing hit like a freight train!! I can only imagine on a tipup!!

i didnt know that there was a tip-up division for a world record fish? this is a great fish but not even close to the state record at all. many many many larger tigers have been caught. is there a fly fishing record? a spinnerbait record? a trolling record? A nightcrwler record? a ice fishing jigging record? how many larger tigers have been caught and not even reported because everybody knows the new york record is 38.5 lb not 27lb. so if you think you caught a world record tiger musky you need to add about 15 more pounds to this fish. check the ones that they get in utah.

yes there is a fly fishing record along with records from every pound test used, its one *##* of a fish none the less

There are multiple records for each species of fish. The IFGA keeps track of them. There are ice fishing, Fly fishing, line class records and a few others I think. The all tackle records represent the biggest of that species ever caught. There are super strict rules and regulations for qualifying for their records. The list of rules is 13 pages long, not including the fly fishing section.

I believe the fish is on the wall at bear woods bait shop on skaneatlas falls ny, go stop in for bait sometime and check it out its huge for sure.

unfortunately,tom won't,be able to fish this years derby as he had heart surgery,and is doing well

The fish appears to have broken the existing world record for a tiger muskie caught with a tip-up, according to a spokesman today from the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame in Hayward, Wisc.

The fish was 44 1/2 inches long, with a girth of 22 1/2 inches."

Remember seeing this a few years back. What a amazing fish caught threw the ice of our new York lakes. And big Guy is right there are big gills in Otisco. Probably due to fish like this in this lake.
