Bull. They work just fine.

I have only purchased perched colored hali's. Tipped with a minnow head or wax worm they work just fine for crappies. Never tried a whole minnow/deadstick on it but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I catch crappies on pimples deadsticked....

I don't know what size it is exactly, but I was catching crappies and gills on a gold one with a wax worm yesterday. They liked it until I reeled em up at least ;D

specifically for crappies,  i've done well with the hali sukkula in the white/blue head and silver/blue color, size 35.  I only use them to get down in really deep water however, as crappies always seem to be more aggressive towards jigs.

Deep water, yeah preference, gets ya there quicker. But as Bigred stats and I agree 100% they are more aggressive towards jigs. I have an arsenal of jigs, I fish with five jig sticks every trip, all tipped with different jigs incl atleast one with a Hali. I have been on the Craps and when the bite has slowed from my standard Crap jigs I have tried the Sukkula to no avail. During the bite I have tried the Hali just to see if they liked it as much, they didn't. So for what it's worth....

not sure of the size, but I always use chartreuse and black.  I've caught crappie, gils, bass, pike and perch on it.  I bought two different colors but haven't used the red and yellow one.  I tip with either a minnow or waxie.  Latley on a private pond, I set out the hali like I would a tip-up and leave it there while jigging with two other poles.  I let the minnow do all the work.
