very nice lookin fish.
i hear brookies spawn in the fall, prolly why we get to see the darker orange colors on the early in the hardwater season.
fall is hunting season so i rarely get out fishing. does anyone ever try fishing for brookies in the fall? much sucess? more active when spawning?
i would think that brookies would like the more weedier areas of the lakes vs say a gravel bed area.
Keep them pix comin, hopefully some "Fresh" pix will be showin up soon, prolly as soon as this cold spell disappears,
over and out!

Yes, I was catching good numbers of them in October/November both flyfishing and spincasting in a few lakes.  I do not think they were spawning though.  They are supposed to be "all female triploids".  The last pictures show a male from a different (third) lake, that is said to come from the "Fraser valley strain".  It deffinitely looked like a spawning fish.

No problem posting more pictures, but i am hijaking the thread and none of the fish come from Verdant lake. :(

I was wondering do you have a really big book or some back ground training that tells you all this stuff.

No, If you use this tool:

http://www.fishwizard.com/

it more or less gives you all the info needed.

I also have Google earth on my computer and it is amazing how much detail you can get: road access, depth, pictures of the lakes, trails, distances, so everything left to you is get there and catch them. ;D

A report straight from the horses mouth- I hate rumours.  ;)  I'd guess Verdant should be producing some really nice fish this year (along with most of the local brook trout lakes) if it summerkilled last in 2004.

Holy crap those are very nice Brookies. Short of hitting Quebec your not going to see such sweet ones anywhere. I icefished In Haliburton Ontario in many stocked lakes for brookies and splake and none ever came that big at least to my lines.

We used to catch both species really close to shore and if there was a fallen tree that was like striking gold.

Need some ice imported to Southern Vancouver Island
