Got to the lake a little before 7 and were the first ones there. Fished the Southern side about 25 yards out, and all of us had hits and caught plenty of trout. Was a little slow starting for me on the gold kastie tipped with a mealie, but finally got on the board. Then got another one as the kastie was being dropped back down. Right about this time, Andy who was yet to get on the board got a pretty good strike and pulled in his first. Then another, and another, and another, and another. My Kastie wasn't getting any love, so I tossed that one down and picked up the same thing that Andy was using, a pin shrimpo with a maroon jighead. As that sucker was dropping, got 2 quick strikes and got up my biggest of the day. After this, could not keep the fish off!
Ended up catching our limit so we pinched down the barbs and just released everything else we caught. But wow, nonstop action until about 11:15, then it just shut off.
Total tally was about 18 - 20 for me, and 20-25 for Andy. Dude even got 2 perch. Was nice watching the trout come in and strike like a bat out of hell 12 feet down. Seemed that whenever it'd slow, a school of perch would roll through, and right behind em were the trout. Stalking them maybe?
One of a couple doubles of the day.
Typical perch
Ice was 7" thick and there was very little wind.
