A buddy of mine headed out to the NW corner this morning, he scouted some ice there yesterday.
Ask around and you might find out which lake it is...I was sworn to secrecy

I'd be wary of bringing newbies or kids just yet. ice is just to iffy. There's a lot of white ice, and with the snow thats falling it's just not worth it. Hopeing we get the wind there calling for tonight to blow the snow off the ice. Hoping to get out Sunday.

definately not cool with the new snow pilling up, if anyone goes out use extra caution and your head because its not worth it. the ice in most places is iffy at best. we need a couple of days at these temps to reseal the deal for us so be patient. its coming.

I'm planning on hitting Winchester tomorrow with a friend. If the wind doesn't blow us off the lake, i'll put up a detailed ice report tomorrow night. Only reason we're going there is we know how the place freezes. In another week there will be a lot more safe ice to pick from.
Winchester does have pike CTICER, but can't remember too many trips there at all where we had good flag action. The place is a bit tight. Smaller baits are your best bet for "action" there.
Since temps were really cold before the snow flew, and certainly aren't going above freezing, i'm betting the Winch will get cleaned off pretty good tonight and tomorrow. Everything was cold soaked, so i doubt much will stick.

Went out in northwest corner, avoiding the snow pack because it was insulated under the snow. Found some weak spots but still had some fun jigging checking around for tomorrow. I.ve been out six times since dec 8th . Last time in that rain we had trouble getting off. check often and be safe. oh and have a blast.
