pointing the camera
« on: Jan 10, 2009, 09:45 PM »
just used my cabelas camera.
The camera worked great but
had a hard time getting on the hook.
I use a tripod. Thinking of getting the disk.
Any one have any tips on getting on to the bait.

I use the tri-pod with my camera and have no problems finding my lure at all................I like the tri-pod a lot as it really helps to keep the camera in one spot that is until a fish hits the camera................ ......the rubber stopper on the top of the tri-pod needs to have a piece of duct tape or something put on it so that it holds in the spot where you want it.................... ....I have found this to help keep the camera in one spot..............

I bought the Tripod last year and thought it was worthless. The stopper would spin on top of the tripod, not being able to leave it where you want it. I bought the Camera Compass by Marcum but forgot to bring it with me both times I wanted to use it. I put it in my sled when I got home so I will have it next time out. The camera compass has cleats in it to run your cable though to keep it from turing. I'll try it next time I go out.

I use to have that same problem getting the camera to stay on the bait. So i decided to purchase the Aquaview's motorized Ice Pod , it did put a dent in the old wallet but after using it a few times it was well worth the investment. I no longer have to struggle out in the cold to get the camera on the bait. All i do now is place the camera to the depth i want then go inside the shack and use the remote control to turn the camera on to the bait.

You should be able to find your presentation very quickly. I use an old fashioned lead clamp on depth finder so I have a larger target to find. When my wife is with me (which is most of the time) that means I'll set up two cameras with the non-motorized tripods. I should be able to setup the DX3000, drill four to six holes, two cameras, two vexilars, bait up and be  settled in and fishing in less than 15 minutes.
The secret is drop down a large target to find with your camera.
