You could give Chapman's Sport Shop a call: (315) 324-5265
They are out on the lake almost daily and give good honest reports.

I will headed out shortly - packing up right now?  I'm sure the snow, if there is any on the ice, will be hard and we will be walking on top.  Actually, I'm confident that I will be running my wheeler out there today.

Does anybody have any good tips on what to use and where to fish for Crappies on Black Lake.  We are heading up the end of January and would love to get into some nice slabsides.  Any info is greatly appreciated.  Thanks Merry Christmas and happy New Year.

As of Monday 12/21/08 There was 5 Inches on most bays and funnels.  However, we had heavy snow(insulate) then  warm spell, wind, rain, and now it's down to 15 degrees as of 0800 on 12/26/08...so hopefully that reduced the snow insulate, got rid of the crap ice, and hopefully we'll start fresh, but I would imagine you may have to wait awhile longer.   >:(
