our local hardware store carries these thing for putting them through the roof, it has a funnel shaped hole in the middle, they work great for the sides too. they help keep water from melting snow on your pipe from running into the shack.

they look something like this, and i think they are about 15 bucks.

just make sure your siding goes over the upper edge so it doesnt leak water there either. if your shack is already sided, youll just have to slide it up under like a 1/4 to a 1/2 and inch or so.

i hope this helps.

These aren't ideal photos or an ideal setup, but it work and works well.  First pic is of the new stack, 4"  second (from outside) is older 6" pipe.  On the newer pipe I used a special trim ring that fits over the 4" pipe which is made for chimney pipe.  It isn't a perfect seal, but it's already hot there so no big deal.  I felt going through the roof wouldn't work for my setup otherwise I would have done that.  I angled the horizontal pipe through the wall, down a couple of degrees to keep water from dripping in the house from outside.  It works and does not effect the smoke flow cause it's only one or two degrees down.  I do get a poor draft when winds are really heavy.  I have to pull off the cap on those days.  I think that's just cause of the cap and not the pipe angled down.

I leave the cap off of mine, also...but I think that a flatter cap would work so that you don't get wind deflected down into the pipe .
Or maybe longer struts holding up cap.
I vented my pipes through the wall ....
1)...didn't want to compromise roof(leaks, loss of heat etc..)
2)...easier (IMO) to stabilize stove pipes .
