H2O gps
« on: Dec 03, 2008, 06:43 PM »
What does everyone think of the Lowrance H2O ifinder gps? I'm think of getting one and was wondering if they are worth the money and how accurate they are when you want to find your fishing spot back. Any info would be helpful.

A buddy of mine has the color one. He bought it last springand we used it all summer and fall on open water. It is vary good and accurate... nice small compact package. We entered in a musky tournament in October and I tied for 14th place out of 504 people just because of the H2O. The problem that I do have with it is it is VERY hard to read the screen in the sunlight, especially if you are wearing polarized sunglasses. That is my one and only complaint on the unit.

Hope that helps a little.

I have the color one and have no problems with sunlight.  It is a big help to see the lake contours on the map.  I use it summer and winter.  I bought a ram mount and use it in the boat as well.  It is great for trolling because you can follow a contour or work a grid because it will show the trail you already trolled.

I have an H20 and like it. I had quite a few waypoints marked on my old GPS and I transferred them to my H20. The first time I tried it last winter I drove to a waypoint where I had marked a tree on my old GPS, dropped my Aquavu down and looked at the tree. They are pretty accurate in my opinion. I use the Navionics North chip in mine.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

If you use the light, It will eat through the batteries very quickly.
Other then that I like it.

i have the color model.  i bought it when i was working at gander mountain, so i had the opportunity to take all of handheld units outside and see them in the sum.  i think the H2Oc id much better int he direct sunlight than the regualr H2O.  i love it. works great with lakemaster chip, and a ram mount.

as far as the HUNTc is concerned, i think the only differnece is that it has a little more room for waypoints and such, and has some additional symbols for markign waypoints.  they may be one or two other things, but i beleive they are VERY similar.  the H2Oc is cheaper too

Doe's the H2O have a port that you can hook up external batteries or do you have to use the internal batteries?

Buy it, its worth every dollar you spend. Its up to you if you choose color over black or white. Also recommend lake chip...

I used mine for he first time with the navionic hotmao chip. it was even better than i imagined. walked onto the lake and walked right to a point that shot out that ya might never know was there. not only did it tell me there was a hidden point under water but it put me right on it !!
