Integrated frame
« on: Dec 10, 2008, 06:14 PM »
I was thinking of building a shack where the plywood siding the main frame component. The reason being so that the shack can be disassembled into pieces (the floor, the 4 sides, and the roof) for ease of transportation. And 8x8' shack isn't the most practical thing for me to move.. The plywood sheets would have 2x2 studs attached along the perimeter of the sheet's face. Sides would have a 2x2 in the corner. The floor would have 2x2s around the edges so the sides can drop on and be screwed to it. Not sure if you guys get me, its hard to explain without a picture. Anyone do this? To me it seems excessive to have a whole frame because of how little weight is actually being supported.

check out my shack, http://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php?topic=88507.0 , i built it out of 2x2's and like 1/8th inch plywood for the walls. It is actually really light and i could have easily made it ready to assemble out on the ice. But i had an extra trailer around so what the hell..

Good Luck

I build a deer blind from "www.deerblindplans.com". I build it in work shop and then took it apart and put it up on 10ft. 4X4s in the middle of my swamp. work great. Going to build another for ice fishing. I built it 4X6 the plans called for 4X8. Plan only cost $9.95 it has complete insturctions and pics I think this might work for your ice shanty that can be taken apart easly and moved.
