Red today
« on: Dec 06, 2008, 07:41 PM »
Did my rounds to decide when to venture out.

I would write off Lockport from the locks to the steamplant.

Saw two shacks on the ice by the steamplant on the east side of the river and about a dozen or so guys fishing by sugar island.

How thick is the ice at these locations?

Drove over the locks today and was shocked to see that the river was open on the west side where I thought it would be frozen, and frozen where it would normally be open. Huge cracks that could swallow a car. very rough and un even. I'm not going to even consider setting up a shack in this area.

I have fished by sugar island for the last few years and found that it's good at first ice then seems to fade as the winter progresses.
It's interesting to here guys are fishing on the east side. I don't remember ever seeing shacks along the east shore by sugar. North of the bridge to nowhere guys set up on the east.

I'm still unsure where I'll be setting up shop this year?
A bad day at the lake still beats armchair fishing.

Not much choice by the steamplant.  Jagged ice everywhere else.
