Clam Corp Shelter Anchor System
« on: Dec 14, 2008, 03:23 PM »
I just bought this from Cabela's. I haven't had a chance to try the anchors yet. But I modified how you install them on my sled. The instructions say to drill two holes and fasten the straps the your sled. But that does not let you put the straps on either side of the sled. So instead of fastening the straps directly to the sled, I use caribiners to attach them to the sled. I attached 4 eyebolts to the four corners of my sled and used large washers to keep them from pulling through the sidewall of the sled. Now I can attach the anchor straps on all sides, depending on which way the wind is blowing and where I set up my sled. But it cost me about $7.00 more for the hardware (4 eyebolts, 6 large washers, 2 small washers, 2 caribiners and 4 nylon lock nuts).

Can you snap & post a picture of what you did?

nice idea, you wont be disapointed with the product it works really nice, very easy to set-up while on the ice and in the wind...I may grab a second set myself, as with your idea, I would no longer be letting the wind decide which way my shanty was facing
