well here in Maine, what I have noticed is if there is a heavy snow (wet snow) the ice settles and cracks and water seeps up and soaks the snow, and creates a slusy mess.  If you have your shack/ shanty/ house whatever you guys call it where you are, elevated high up on blocks > 6-8 inches you shouln't need to worry too much if you are going to have COLD temps after the snow, to freeze any slush up again, or if your snow is a dry powdery snow.  I would just check on it a day or so out from the storm, and clear the snow off around the shack.  I am under the assumption that you have thick ice underneath (> 8 inches).  hope this helps!

Gotta get it up on blocks.  Throughout the winter, you may have to add more blocks, but as long as the shack is at least a few inches off the ice, you should be fine.

you can also lay a 2X6X 8 pr something like that accross the whole side of the shack then put your blocks on top on that..  that way there it will disperse the weight of the shack along the plank and not allow the blocks to sink at the corners..   here is how wer do it.. look at the blocks and plank!  hope it helps/
