I'm sure i'm not the first guy this week to say it either.
Besides the laid back attitude of the site (or ninja moderators
), and the technical abilities and know-how of ice fishermen, there's also folks here willing to go out of their way for someone they've never met. Which is the reason of this post.
After seeing a picture somebody posted of a bottle of Ice Hole Schnapps, i had to have it! Local attempts and requests to find it came up empty. Even tried e-mailing a few sources in the the region where it's sold with no luck either. And of course that stupid voice in my head wouldn't shut up as usual. So, after buying comes borrowing. And after borrowing comes, you guessed it, begging.
I put up a request in the Hardwater Cuisine forum last month for some help getting a bottle of Ice Hole figuring it couldn't hurt. Besides finding out that i'm hardly the only person seeking out a bottle, i did in fact get a PM from a member willing to help out. I'll have an early Christmas present at the end of the week! I already gave him a dozen thanks in the PM's back and forth, and one goes out in public too even if it's an anonymous one. I don't want to chance the guy getting PM'ed for requests or hash over any possible issues.
A BIG thanks for the help! It's gonna be fun sharing this on the ice with the crew this winter! I'll certainly be paying this one forward as well. Besides one favor i owe, i'll be sure to help out another IS member where i can. And as promised, along with a check to pay for the goods, a check goes out to IS. Glad to join the Militia and support a great site. I've gotten a great reception from plenty of members already!
Thanks everyone. Here's hoping for a massive heating bill this year !
