THANKS TO OUR MILITARY
« on: Jan 19, 2005, 08:25 AM »
Some of you guy's in AK may or may not know that one of your own was called up for Guard duty and is now stationed in Kuwait. I am talking about Barleydog. Every 6 weeks or so I try to find some good fishing magazines to send him. Having served in the military myself(Ft Greeley,AK) I know first hand how much this kind of remembrance is priceless! Maybe some of you guy's could send him stuff that deals more with his home area? Barleydog (M/Sgt J.D. Ferris) is from North Pole,AK. You can get his address by contacting grumpymoe, who is a moderator for the Ontario forum here on IS. Remember that Jim is making a big sacrifice on all our behalfs. He had to go off and leave behind his family with small children. Give him all the support you can! Thanks. DIRTBALL2...aka:Keith

I'm embarrassed! :-[ In my previous post I stated that grumpymoe was a moderator for the Ontario forum here on IS. Actually he is a moderator for the Manitoba forum. Also asked him if he would post Barleydog's snail mail address here. Thanks, DIRTBALL2

I can't believe that only two posts on this thread from Jan. 2005

This photo was taken by a soldier in Afghanistan on a helo rescue mission.
The pilot is a PA National Guard guy who flies EMS choppers in civilian life.

Now how many people on the planet you reckon could set the ass end of a
chopper down on the roof top of a shack, on a steep mountain cliff, and hold
it there while soldiers load wounded men in the rear. If this does not impress
you... nothing ever will.

God Bless our military.

We should be very thankful for all our military and all they stand for.

I was at the deployment ceremony as a proud DOD Civilian on Ft. Wainwright on the 11th of September also know as "Patriot Day" where some 4000 soldiers who are now in Kuwait on their way to Iraq were saying goodbye to and holding their families for the last time until they return in a year. You may have seen it on the news when VP Elect Sarah Palin and her family were saying goodbye to their son and brother. She made me so proud because she spoke first as a mom and then as the Governor of Alaska and not as someone who thought about giving a campaign speech.

Remember if you are reading this thank a teacher. If you are reading this in English thank a Veteran.

Never forget why we are over there; because those cowardice animals murdered 5000+ people to include fireman and policeman who were there to save them.

Keep them in your prayers,

Brad

I wish that we had this technology during my stint back in the 70's.
We did fly in the same dam planes back then and they were old then. Love the lockheed c-130
