Moosehead Report
« on: Mar 14, 2008, 12:16 PM »
Just got back from Moosehead. I was supposed to fish 3 or 4 days but came back early, I fished 2 full days. Stayed at Sundown Camps in Rockwood, not my choice, but that was where the guys from work wanted to go to. The camps are real nice, right on the water. The only thing is this is not the best place  when you want to fish the Northern part of the lake. We ended up fishing Moody Island, not a bad place exept you had to put up with some Yellow perch. The 2nd day fished by Keneo, small togue and Salmon. The ice conditions are excellant for 4 wheelers or snowmobiles. The bait at Rockwood bait Shop was excellant as it always is. I still think Tomheagn Camps is the best place to stay.

I personally like Sundown better than Tomhegan. A lot nicer people and a lot better fishing if you know where to fish there. ;D ;D ;D :o :o  Cabin 1 is my favorite sits right on the water. Very nice in the summer as well right close to some of the best fishing on the whole lake.  My 2 cents.

I do not know why you had a problem with Tomhegan. I have been going for 25 years with never a problem. The care takers there now have been there for 4 years or so.. Sundown is fine if you do not mind a snowmobile trail in front of your camp and want to hear Big rigs going by all the time. I personaly try to get away from the crowds.
