Stick a fork in it~~CF is done.
« on: Mar 01, 2008, 04:55 PM »
Walked out to the pressure ridge and was there by around 6:30 today.  Fished for about 2 hours until the storm blew in. unbelievable wind!!! In 2 hours I caught 4, threw one back. There's a lake on the lake  :o  All over the lake there are massive puddles anywhere from a skiff to about 3-4" of standing water. BIG blocks of ice coming out when we drilled holes, barely any shavings.  The shore is really doing bad, super saggy with about 4-5" of water all up and down the shore.  Where old cracks meet the shore its opened up.  Despite the sketchy ice conditions I didn't fall in. yeah.  Also, couldn't believe my eyes, but there were 2 cars driving around and still a few atv's.  Ice may hold up for another day or two... three?  today was my last day though...unless it gets super cold again, otherwise I had a great season but I don't really want to end it by swimming.

An Ice Fisherman is a man who spends cold days sitting on the ice doing nothing because his wife won't let him do it at home.

What is the ice like out from the Silo's or is it rotten everywhere? I am sledding at Cooke Thurs. and Sat., So I am robbed until next monday. Which leads me to the Question, does anybody ice fish those lake around Cooke? I remember fishing them when I was a child.

Went out to Hole in the Wall this past weekend.  Good ice from the Silos out (~20") a little slushy at the surface by 2 pm but no ponded water.  Trout were biting hard most of the day.  Saw a lot of trout guts on the ice right near the Silos boat ramp and plenty of folks fishing off the dikes.  Only one perch caught by a buddy, but it was a hog (1.11 lbs) as weighed by FWP.

Don't know how much longer ice will last ???
