Hey Ice Freek, do you think that's the best time of year, end of march? We went out a couple times in december and it was kinda slow. We were fishing Mtn. Palace FAS.  Do you like to fish up by Craig or down by Ulm and Cascade?

MasterPikeSlayer and I were gonna go tonight but it didn't work out. :(

Thanks for the invite, Monday probably wouldn't work for me though. Where do you usually go? Good luck and let me know how you do.

Ling we go by Craig from the middle of March until the end of April every time I went last year I limited out. We ice fish everywhere i think we are going to Beaver Creek on Monday for the last ice trip of the year. I have to work from Saturday until the 17th and then I am heading to Vermont to try for some late ice action there. when i get back it will be ling and wally time though you can count on that! I might be able to go on the 11 or 12 if you want to give it a try. let me know.

Sounds like pretty hot fishing. I've never fished for ling near Craig, where around there is the best spot?

We use cut bait on the bottom also. I go just North of Craig. If you are from Fairfield do you know Wayne Steed? He is the one who showed me where to go in Craig.

Do you park just off the interstate at the big hole down stream from Craig?
Thanks

Yeah and I'm going Monday at 6:00pm you guys want to meet somewhere and go? If you go there you need at least a ten foot net to get down the cliff.

Thanks for the offer but Monday probably wont work for me either. Good Luck and thanks for all the info.
I've heard of a spot like you're describing with the cliff, but I've never been able to locate it. Being as you're the second person who has reported success there, I will have to find it and give it a try.

Thankyou RRfish for the detailed directions. When I went looking for it I was on the frontage road and never saw any "cliff". I think I will be going there next Friday hopefully.

That is exactly what I was thinking, every time I went there last year there was noone else there. I am willing to bet that won't happen this spring! We might have to fish until after midnight so we can keep two days worth, or find another bend with a hole on the river somewhere I think I know another spot to try.

I give as much advice as anybody.... I welcome people to come fishing with me anytime they want.  I will tell people the lakes that I am fishing and even what I was using most of the time.  Now that that is clear.... I just dont think you should post exact locations that some of us already know about on here after he has already been told "use cut bait, and we fish by Craig"  which was my fishing partner Ice Freek.  I dont mind giving out spots but maybe do it in a pm instead of posting it on the board for 40,000 people to see.

bighof,
I understand where you are coming from completely, and sorry for being kind of a jerk. Nothing bugs me more than when people tell your big secret spots and etc., it sucks. But it was already too late and that info was already posted for everyone, nothing you said was gonna change that. Anyways, good luck.

Yeah I was just about to suggest that maybe we should continue the conversation in a PM when the directions were posted.
I'm grateful for having a new spot to try but maybe RRfish should remove his post now so that no one else can still see it. A spot like that CAN get fished out.
Just my 2 cents.

Are there truly any secret spots left in this world?? I am thinking probably not just because some think they are there are always more people then you think that fish or hunt the same spot.

Not if they are on public property, anything worth hunting/fishing has been found by many and is only a secret in their own mind.

Just something that people have to learn if it is on public land it is no secret. I am glad I am not the only one that thinks this way.

The cool thing about fishing is that most of the time, in my limited experience, people are willing to tell you what they are using, what depth, and the likes of how to catch a fish. I am sure 40,000 people are not going to mass on this area and make it as congested as the Anchor river or the Kenai. If they do think of the economy, put up a hot dog stand today, you will be a bizillionare tomarrow. Oh ya, Hey everybody, I have really good luck on elk around Gardiner, so head to Decker and give her hell buddy. lol
Ya gotta be tuff when yer dumb
