Be careful you don't use them when in Minn., Using a part of a "game fish" to use as bait is illegal in MN.{its on page 10, of the Mn. Fishing Regs} In WIsc. you can if you include the fish in your possession limit
I don't know for sure about N. or S. Dak. or Iowa.

You can use "rough fish" parts tho'.

Just thought I'd give ya a "heads-up".....

Saturday I set in a shanty next to a friend using spikes and grubs , I was using perch eyes and out fished him by 48 to 11 and they were all bigger fish.who knows but they sure worked for me.BB

I think it was pride and the fact that he did not like the retrieval part,spikes come from a jar eyes come from the fish.BB

The other day I was out and caught some perch, put a perch eye on, caught a few more perch... and with the same original eye, I caught a walleye, without jigging, or doing anything special. I got to looking at the walleye, and wondered what would happen if I put a walleye eye on the hook? Anyone tried it?

Ive been using perch eyes for 30 years,also use grubs,the eyes work great.

I've used 'em for years too, I wonder if it was a New york thing originally. Seems a lot of people haven't heard of it outside of the state.

EYE USE eyes all the time, some times it leads to the smaller fish, then switch to minnows and get the bigger ones. On occassion eye pill put the eyey in my mouth to warm it up, it has never looked back at me. They are truly good bait.

Also been using perch eyes for years.... has anyone every used Walleye eyes or any other type of fishes eyes as bait?

i use creek chub eyes to catch chubs......5-6 on a hook.....

Hook the eye through the side of it, you can see the hook looking back at you. Lasts a long time

How do YOU set up a perch eye for use as bait?

Typically I am miticulous and try and hook the eye on without puncturing it, through some of the meaty stuff that hangs on around the eye ball. Last weekend, I said sc rew it, and just punched the hook right through the eye, black goo everywhere, but I think it must have attracted the fish? I didn't get immediate bites, but did catch a few on that 1 punctured eyeball. after a walleye hit it though it was pretty much gone to bits.

I work my thumb nail down by the eye to get it bulging then hook and pull sometimes they rip but thats why god gave em two eyes

Im a little maticulas too.I stick the hook in the hole on the back side and back thru the darker edge.seems easyer to pull off.and ill keep adding fresh so ill have 3 on at a time.

i like the perch eyes but have a problem popping 'em, so to catch the bigger fish i keep one of the smaller ones and fillet him out (leaving the skin on) and cut the fillets into small chunks, paired with a larger glow jig it kills the hawgs.

An older dude came over one day when we were fishing gave me an eye and said try this since then this has been my number 2 bait ( still like the waxies better) I usually stick my finger in trhe mouth and push until it "pops" a bit then dig under with thumbnail almost always works .

the bigger the better.oh and i found out if you rip their guts out and leave it on the hook they love that also
