the lake i fish at has a small crappie population with big fish, i can catch these crappie easily in the summer but can't find any in the winter.
the max depth of the lake in winter is 17'-18' there is a large island in the middle of the lake in a kind of bottleneck, there is weeds and moss in the shallower areas during the times with thick ice and snow, the rest of the time the bottom is covered with weeds. the south side of the island tends to be the year-round honey-hole for gills and perch.
i need tips to catch these crappie in the hardwater months.
