NEED ADVICE/ INPUT ON FISH FINDER
« on: Feb 10, 2008, 05:57 PM »
Hate to not talk about ice fishing since I will be doing MUCH more of it but I am looking to buy a new fish finder for my boat. I am probably going to put in layaway so I need to do it soon so I can have for spring. I was looking at the lowrance 520 fishfinder w/ GPS. This unit is about $650 which was a little more than  Iwanted to spend ( like to be $450 or under). On the other hand this should last me for a long time so I would hate to want to upgrade in 2 years because of a cheaper unit. Has anyone used this model or what other models w/ GPS is good.... GPS is a must for me... Thanks

Get a MarCum or Vex, then a seperate GPS. Seems it would be more versatile year round that way and cheaper.

Lowrance M68 and if ya want the M68C which is a winter graph that you can take the head off and put on your boat.......dual use w/GPS.

I have an fl-20 ( the thing is bad to the bone) but I want one I can mount to the boat. I do not like the VEX in open water. Yeah it picks up fish but does not show exact drop offs, thermo lines... etc

Buy the Lowrance not a Eagle. (same company) I got a Eagle Seachater 640c DF and was having problems with it, I did what they said and updated the software and now it won't work with the Lakemaster chip. Well the runaround has started. >:( My Lowrance never gave me any problems) I'm getting a new Lowrance.

[/quote... I am leaning towards the lowrance even though it is about $200 more. I do not want to save $200 if that means problems down the road. Thanks for the input... Just want to hear some input b4 I make a choice... Thank you

I just bought the Lowrance 522C in Novi last Jan [08]. I also took a 7 hr class from Lance Valentine and the Lowrance 520 is what they had in class, you will love the 520. The Eagle is Lowrance's last years version and that was told in the class by the Lowrance Co man, cheaper and for good reason.
