What are you using for rod blanks?

they are old rods my grandfather had.most of the eyes on the rods were rusty to big or just old.i sanded the blanks down to a faster action at the tips and used new lightweight eyes.

the tips i use are large fly rod tips.

Here is my take on "The Green Hornet" from Grumpy Old Men. I make these poles from solid wood including the rod blank. The guides are hand tied. I love those movies and just had to have one of these poles. Once in a while i will use my pole on the ice but it hangs in my den as a conversation item.

i just made y first handmade rod. (no pics yet) it is a heavy action rod. i just use the ends of old soft water rods ive picked up at yard sales.

yeah i used old solid fiberglass rods and sanded them down to the action i like.need to find some more i'm all out.

i put my palm saner in a vise(pad up) and put the blank in a drill, held the rod to the sander(it makes your hand itch like crazy, but this way as it spinsit is completely even
