Lake Winnipeg Sunday
« on: Jan 29, 2008, 10:13 AM »
Well our first trip to the lake started at 5:00 in the morn. Got to the lake at around 8:00 and set up by 8:30. No action at the first spot so moved but that spot only produced a 7 inch walleye. Moved again decided to stay because of water levels and people beside us doing better than we had. That spot however still only produced a 20 inch walleye not bad but still not what we wanted. Then with and hour and a half left we move to a spot were no one was or had been in the last while. set up and bomb!! smacked a.........PIKE   so we were gonna boot it when my dad all of a sudden pulled up a little 12 inch walleye. After that it was non stop for the last 30 mins of light. Then a guy moved close to us with 15 mins of light left and right away caught a 29.5 inch. Sure know where we are going next weekend. A bad day got turned good when we filled a pail that was so expertley checked by gatorhunter good to see ya  . The new jiffy sure liked the taste of ice so that was good.....TightLines... ..

Final tally

Jiffy-5 walleyes biggest 19 inches
Dad-3 walleyes biggest 20 inches and a pike

BEAT YA AGAIN DAD

Also out Sunday with the wife and our 3 year old son. I caught 5 wallies between 17 and 21 inches... nice eaters for a change. Wife lost several just under the ice by ripping the hooks out of fish mouths... she just got too excited i guess?? Fished from 10-3 pm. Guess we should have stayed for the evening bite. Kid had a great time.

Out on L. Winnipeg yesterday(Mon.) as well. Werner Rd access totally cut off by pressure heave. Chalet only passable to good sized 4x4's. Bite was poor...my pal took 4 eaters and I put 2 24 inchers back... didn't even get one eater.

Thanks guys, The ice was really thick and like firefighter said it's almost extension time. The Jiffy was bottomed out but wow that thing paid for itself in one day. In all honesty wouldn't have caught any of those fish without it. Just can't move around with 3 feet of ice and a hand auger. Prolly head out next weekend again and won't be going without an extension. ;) ;)
