How do you keep bait on barbless hooks???? Any ideas?

In Alberta we have a law against barbs.  I usually jig for 'eyes by putting the hook through the eye of the minnow so it gives it more action.  Now that I am trying it with no barbs, it seems that the bait just flys off...  Any tricks out there??

you can cut or rip a little piece of the end of a rubber grub and put it on the jig/hook after you put your minnow on it....we do it in Manitoba sometimes when we getting stripped alot. We can't use barbs out here either. It usually helps alot.

they have what you call "bait saver" it comes in a tube that looks like floss buy its a stretchy monofilimont! this stuff is awesome, i use it for every kinda fish, but mostly fish where i use barbless hooks, like for sturgeon, and steelhead cause they have special regs on them!

mike's magic thread is the proper name for it, i find it where ever they sell steelhead supplies. its most comin for tying roe bags. but it works great for holding meat or any soft bait that doesn't hold very well by itself. www.sportsmanguide.com is a good link to find it! hope this helps! moski
