Sinkin' Sleds?
« on: Jan 06, 2008, 12:13 AM »
Have you ever known of a sled to fall through the ice before its owner? Mine's getting pretty hefty, but ... I'm led to think the chances of a sled going through the ice would be much less than that of an individual. A sled's weight is spread over much more area than that of a fat feller like myself.

I wonder the same thing it would suck to fall through the ice but if you survive it would suck more that you lost your $480 flasher... $250 camera... $150 digital camera.. auger, rods, sled ouch that's an expensive loss

Generally, a sled disperses weight over a greater area, as opposed to two boot prints.  As I recall 9th grade physics, more concentrated weight will break through first.  Not saying it is impossible, but it is more likely YOU will go through before your sled (especially if you're walking in front of it!)
