Poconos area-safe ice???
« on: Jan 17, 2008, 10:05 AM »
Read the report in The Fisherman(weekly NJ fishin magazine) that some lakes had safe, sloppy ice.  Pecks Pond 3-5, Promised Land Lake 3-5, Lk Shohola 4-6.  Checked out the the reports page , no recent posts about any.  Does anyone have any accurate info on these locations?  Any help would be great.  I've been out of work for a while and goin stir crazy, need to get out on the ice.

There are a couple of reports of people still on Tobyhanna Lake.  I'm going to try Minsi Lake this weekend and if it isn't safe then head for Tobyhanna.

Good Luck!

fished upper Promised land and it had a good 5" on 1-17
also checked Fairview which wasn't safe as of same day if you want thicker ice go int Wayne Co plenty up here. the only thing the rain and warm air did was lose some of the snow and turn it into ice each nite.  current temp here is 22F at 9:58 pm
