marcum vs380
« on: Dec 31, 2007, 02:29 PM »
i am wanting to upgrade my camera and wondering if anybody has some words of wisdom on the marcum vs380. my old aqua vu works fine except for towards low lite periods during the morning and evening and of coarse night.  i have become very dependant upon it and hate to see the screen turn to snow when the sun is low or down.  is there a camera that works decent at these times or am i dreaming.  also curious bout the scout II and how it matches up to the vs380. thanks for any info

I Post about same thing a few weeks go , no one reply. so i order  the Vs380 through cabelas.  I used it the day after christmas and was very pleased with it. grant i never  used a underwater camera before but I think it will help me find were the fish are holding in the lakes I fish.  the vs380 has a 7inch b&w crt monitor which is very clear. the manta camera is a sony super HAD CCd low lux camera ,and it has led light above the camera that you can ajust for how bright you want it.  I fish with 2lb line  and I put the camera about 2 feet away from my jig and you could see the line tied to it ,the lake I was fishing was stained . I was about 15 feet down.  I fished for about 8 hours and the battery was still going strong.

I was fishing in a shanty, When you are outside the monitor is hard to see even when the sun shield is up.

Have nothing to compare with as this is my first cam But I am really happy with my 380 ,only used it twice so far,the field of  view is great and pic is clear, set mine up outside of hut and fished inside in about 20 feet of water , 3 of us fishing with farest hook being about 6 feet away from cam could see it clearly ,water was a little murky but adjusting the brightness  helped alot
