Monday madness
« on: Dec 18, 2007, 10:54 AM »
Yeah right, I suffered my first Red River skunking ;D Just a couple of burbots and sauger were all. We were down by Sugar. It seemed like a Saturday though with all the people that were out. Trucks galore driving on. We stopped one from coming closer to us. Get this I went to talk to him and he asked me if I heard of the truck that went under at CIL :o My reply, one went down here too.

Sorry to here that you got skunked Scuba, better fishing next time.

Some folks have a death wish don't they...What are people thinking?  Personally, I can't see myself driving a vehicle on the Red period, never mind this early in the season.  Two trucks go down, just days ago...All of a sudden, yesterday, the ice is safe to drive on  ???  What happened over the last couple of days to make those morons decide this  ???  I don't understand what goes on in peoples heads...Get a couple of buddies together to help you pull your gear out already...The risk is too high...Duh!  ::)

Excuse my ranting...

Don't think I would have had the balls to walk over to talk to a guy in a truck on the ice!

One observation:  No news coverage of these events until the RCMP issued a warning a couple of days ago.  Seems to me it might have made sense (and would have been a catchy headline) for at least one of the local news outlets (FP - where are you?) to have picked this up when it first happened.

Re - your skunk - Just a hint.  There really aren't that many crappie in the Red: switch to walleye gear and you might have more success. ::)

That's no skunk...you caught fish...perhaps you didn't catch the intended species (Mr. Rig is on to something  ;D ), but that's not a skunk.

Of course, since I don't fish any more, I'm hardly an expert  ::) :'(

God grant me the Serenity to accept the size of the fish I catch,
the Courage not to fib about it,
and the Wisdom to know that no one would believe me anyway.
