Aqua Cam
« on: Jan 02, 2008, 04:26 PM »
My wife recently bought a Aqua Cam off of ebay for $108. Just wondering if there is any difference between this and the Aqua Vu? I didn't want to disappoint her by telling her that it wasn't a Aqua Vu. Either way I cant complain. At least shes supporting something I love to do.

congrats on the cam, i got an aqua cam last year from Menard's, it worked fine for a day or so, then in took on water in the camera housing and i lost the picture. I went to their website and they said it was a sealant defect from the factory, they had me send the whole thing back and a $15 check for s&h, and they sent me a whole new unit and this one has worked great, besides a light gray spot on the screen. So before you drop it in the water, i might suggest a little silicone on the camera housing............... .........bpan

I heard that it took on water from a buddy of mine. He never got his replaced. He just chucked it in the garbage. I will probably put silicone on it just to be safe. Thanks bpan.

So where did you put the silicone on before you drop it in. I am supposed to get mine Friday...Did you put it around where the cable goes in? Or on the camera housing itself....

Just a thought after I wrote this.....If I did put silicone on it, and it did leaks or the camera/monitor was defective. The warranty would probably be no good and I could not replace it. So on second thought, I think I will bypass siliconing it since it is new w/factory warranty

Same problem with mine.  I put a marine grade underwater sealeant on everything I thought looked like it could leak.  Now I do not have any problems with it at all.   used it form about mid jan through feblast year and this year so far no problems.
