Color patterns for jigs
« on: Dec 05, 2007, 07:13 PM »
What color pattern seems to be the most consistent for you each year? Whether it's for perch, walleye, bluegill, etc. For me it's metallic gold with blood red, the perch always seem to go for that pattern when nothing else works.

For me its usually a greenish color/yellow with white. its amazing how changing the color of a jig can get you so many more fish aint it?

Gold, Chartreuse, Pink, and several glow colors especially red and green. It pays to have an open mind though, because fish can change their ideas of favorite color in a heartbeat. Also the clarity of the water can have an effect on your choices.

I think that it depends on the lake your fishing. But bright green seems to work for me on most lakes. Fish seem to also like blue and silver.

I have found that it varies for me throughout the day and from day to day. Overall, light green/glow, pink/glow and orange/glow seem to work for the panfish for me.

I find that a red head and white tail works best in clear water and green head black tail works in stained water.
