Box or round minnow traps?
« on: Nov 27, 2007, 04:18 PM »
Does anybody have an opinion on traps? I have the round torpedo ones. Some people are saying the square or box type are better in still water?

Depends how much bait you need. If you're catching bait for yourself/ icefishing, then the old standby torpedo traps work great. If you plan on selling bait then you can't beat the clover leaf shaped traps. They catch and hold hundreds of shiners in one setting.

I build my own out of two five gallon water bottles. Just cut all four ends off, put the bottles together and invert the pour spouts and fasten to the bottles holding the middle section together with zip ties and drill holes all over. Holds 3 times the bait.(((((FLAG)))))
