Cowgers' Lakefront Cabins - (207) 448-2455

http://www.greenlandcovecamps.com/

I know those two above are the major players out there for camps I believe.  However, i am sure there are others.  Greenland Cove rents shacks for $40 a day according to their site.  I stayed there 15 years or so ago.  I am sure some other IS folk will have more detailed info.

You can't go wrong with either place....

I've stayed at Greenland Cove Camps the last 2 years. I have a portable so there was no reason to rent a shack. The camps are camps... nothing special but deff does the trick. Pretty reasonable also and are right on the water. If you just want to throw some traps in you can sit right on the porch and watch them!!!
Give him a call he will set soemthing up for you and I think if there is a particular spot you want to fish he will move a shack to it for you.

Pegasus -

You vastly overrate my self-importance up thar....I am an "implant" and will always be....but love the area nonetheless!

There are several options for renting camps on/near East Grand.

I have stayed at Cowgers Camps in the past (about 10yrs ago).  Google that one.  Good, basic camps in Greenland cove, a furnace! and hot water!

I personally know the owner/operator of Northeast Outfitters in Forest City.  This lady loves to have fun, and works very hard.  PM me.  Contact info: (207) 448-3229.  She concentrates on the East Grand/Spednic lakes.  She puts out a couple shacks each year, takes sports out/in via snowsled and/or 4wheeler.  Will fish and party with the best!  I've never been in her lodge, but the pictures I've seen look nice.  Bunk style accommodations, and she does cook meals for guests I think.

I also know the owner/operator of the Village Camps.  Nice house keeping camps in the Forest City cove area.  Google that one too.

That should give you a few leads.  There are some other camps further north.  I don't know if Rideouts is open in the winter.  Use Google to find other options.

The East Grand derby is usually the end of January, but was postponed last year to late Feb due to poor ice conditions.  I haven't seen anything about this year.  You can ice fish East Grand.  It is international waters and has a few special regs to be aware of.  The season starts a bit later than inland waters.  You need a Canadian license if you go deep in to the Canadian coves... The fishing hours are from 1/2 hour before sunup to 1/2 after sunset (double check this one).  Also check the size/keep limits!

Hope you make the trip.  It's a pretty lake/area, but can be frustrating at times....

MD

Mainedog,
Does Northeast outfitters have a website?  cannot find one!  Thanks.  Also would this be a good place to take kids fishing?  Mainly looking for Perch and other pan fish (crappies)  PM me if you'd like.

Thanks again,
Steve

FLAG,
Thank's for the heads up, much appreciated.  This will be the first year that I'll have a 7 year old fishing with me and I want him to enjoy it, but much more is the fact that I don't want to have to leave an hour after starting.  I'll see how it goes closer to home.

Tight Lines,
Steve

You would have to have a very dedicated kid to fish East Grand. Not saying you can not catch fish but to keep them occupied so they love it and want to go again this just isn't the place. Good Luck in your search for a very active place to fish. I now of plenty in Southern Maine.. PM me if you need a place..

Flag Thanks again.  I might take him to one of the lakes that Scott (Billditrite) Talked to me about.  Would love to take him on a "guy's trip" and see him have some fun.  Now if you have a lake or 2 that are just "stuffed" with Crappies and Perch please let me know  ;D  Tight Lines Flag, hope to see you out on the Ice!
