Testing new waters
« on: Oct 08, 2007, 02:17 AM »
I went out to my cabin this weekend and decided to hit the lake and try to mark some new spots on the gps. Tried a flat i never fished in the fall or winter just in the spring and within 2 min. a nice perch

after a while of no hits we tried trolling down a new weed break we've never fished and not 5 min after we threw our hooks out im into this nice 38 inch pike :)

we also caught a couple more small pike and a couple small perch but nothing else photo worthy.
this is the biggest pike i've caught on my homelake. found some new waters for this winter and hopefully will have more big pike to post.

Way to go Big Burk and company, thats a good perch and a big pike, Nice. 8)

How big was that pike?
I am guessing around the 16 lb mark based on it's lenght.

i was guessing around the 16-17lb mark. nothing huge but a good surprise when targeting walleyes  :D caught it on a small rapala in a crawdad pattern. heading out there again this weekend to get one more trip in on open water, unless there is ice on the river then i will be hitting that up ;D i was out on the ice today on a small pond by my house and it had almost 2inches of good ice. so the lakes wont be long  ;D

Its always great when you check out some new waters and get rewarded with a fish like that.  Good job.   8)  Maybe this next time it will be even better.
