Well..........

It's Open Water now, or Really Close to it...
This is what I still do...

Take a 5 foot open water rod and real...Put on some 1-2 lb line, like the kind you would use for Hard Water Fishin, and then put on a Tear Drop with a Small Bobber you can see...Start fishin from shore or if you can't do that, Fish from a Boat.

I'm catching Nice Bluegills, Specks, and I caught a nice Perch doing this so far...Fish the small Ponds that might hold fish..

131 expressway and 68th street behind the Kamart Store..Big Pond w/ nice Gills and Bass..

Have a Ball.

I do the same thing with glo jigs and tears for night and late evening crappies. I find it works best when there is a light wind so there is a ripple on the water that shakes that jig in a way that would make Dave Genz envious... good post.

I tie all my own ice jigs. I do the same thing only use one of my fly rods.
Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it!!! Fish On!!

I've been using teardrops and waxies on soft water for years. It's a very effective method.
