So I'm putting my gear up for the summer....fire up the above mentioned auger....Christmas gift....it was purchased by my wife on the 5th of December.
Engine fires up with not much issue....thumb the throttle and the screw turns....but only for about 5 seconds then it just simply stopped turning. Nothing loud - nothing hard - no smoke - no bumps - nothing....it just stopped turning.
What the What!!!!!!!
I think Gander Mountain's return policy is 90 days....that has come and gone by about 18 days or so.
I guess I'm gonna be forced to work with Jiffy on this one. Anyone on hear familiar with the issue or familiar with Jiffy's response timing or willingness to stand behind the auger?
Any help or insight would be appreciated. Sure do love the auger and I'm hoping this issue doesn't leave a bad impression.
Thanks everyone!
Have you used it to cut ice already this season? And now it happens? My buddy has the very same auger, and when he first got it, the first few Times he fired it up it did the same thing, then he noticed if he let it warm up a bit and then bring the red choke all the way up before he pressed the throttle it never quit and ran fine, but if he forgets to bring that red choke up it dies almost immediately from flooding when he hits the throttle. it also did it when he forgot to open the gas cap for venting too. check the plug too, the 24:1 mix fouls plugs really bad. (thats why I use Amsoil synthetic 80:1 mix) auger runs AWESOME!! (I have a jiffy 30) If all this doesn't help, you probably will have to bring it to the nearest jiffy repair place, if you are not comfortable with small engine work yourself, such as adjusting the carburator etc. if there is no crunching noise etc, sounds like a fuel/flooding problem. start it up, then let it warm, move the red chock all the way up to RUN then press the throttle! hope it helps!
