Badger Creek
« on: Feb 27, 2007, 03:50 PM »
Just got back from the lake. Ice was awesome, 15 inches (yes, I took a tape measure) with a small amount of snow in some places. Just enough to make it easy to walk.
Took home 20 bluegills and 5 crappies. (Had to leave early so I only had a couple hours to fish)
Just find the channel (16ft) or join the crowd at the cove by the dam. The gravel road is a slushy, muddy mess but the pavement to the boat ramp was dry.

FrostyIceCold and I hit Badger Wed and we had 18 inches ice on the road bed and to the north in the channel.  Nice gills still hitting as they school through, a few crappie as well.  Hitting best in the morning and again around noon.  Frosty was out there Tue. as well and they were really hitting, soft bite Wed. but still very productive.  Now staying above freezing at night plus some rain coming through so likely to get slushy, I still hope to get out again early next week as long as shore line stays solid.

Went out Thursday night  from 5:00pm-6:00pm. There was a little water on the ice and got slushy in a lot of places. Ice was around 15-18 inches.  Not sure what the rain today did, but I'm hoping to go out Saturday morning for awhile. Low  temp is going to be 28, so hope the top layer freezes. We caught about 20 bluegills and some crappie, they were hitting like crazy in the channel. Just look for the crowds off to the right of the roadbed.

Stopped by Sunday from 5-7. Shoreline wasn't too bad, had to use the dock to get on the ice. About 1/2 inch of slush on top. Still some decent ice. Probably going to be a lot less after the temps today. Couldn't get the fish to bite anything, caught 3 the whole time there.

The end is near !!!!    Let the spawn begin !!!!
