What about long pond in plymouth? That pond is LOADED with browns, brookies, salmon, and rainbows. Along with the usual largie and smallies.

Sorry I will be at the Josh Snyder Derby at Cheshire Lake, areas biggest (best) derby. it is an overnight event with a huge dinner and lots of raffles two 500 dollar prizes and other cash prizes. I won a 10 inch auger at it two years ago.(((((FLAG)))))

Just drove by weqaquet in barnstable with some student,and there was a s##tload of people out there so I guess the ice is safe right now.
I'm just a little concerned with the forcast for wed,possible rain here on cape.

This rain definitly won't help the cause,but the smaller ponds should recover nicely.
If we just want a casual get together to put names to faces and maybe swap fish stories,we should find a smaller pond that produces somewhat and has some room.
One suggestion would be the back portion of long pond in harwich which connects with smalls pond. Both have huge yellow and white perch plus largemouth and pickerel. Plus, the parking lot is good size and has a couple of picnic tables if we decide to do some cookin!

Just watched the forcast, cold again! They cant make up there minds.
Think long pond in harwich is frozen? I know of a smaller pond in harwich that produces 10 pounders open water( i have heard, biggest there for me is 4), i wonder if that is frozen.

Hey guys!

I'm back from the Adk's and had a great time! Didn't like the ride home yesterday though...It normally takes me 4.5 but it took me 7hrs to get home. I caught a 25" chain Pickerel ( on 4lb mono hehehehe!!!) , 2 Small mouth Bass, and a bunch of perch. The Lake Trout weren't really hitting at all and the group only caught two but they were all 21" + and we had a nice fish fry on Tuesday night. The temps up there were brutal with it getting up to 4 during the day and -15 at night. The wind chill made it horrible to check (free up) tip-ups during the day and I only came out of the shanty for a flag. I had to check them every 30 minutes or it was hell to get them out. I have pics and they will be coming soon. I have a buddy emailing them to me.
I finally have all my stuff so if it gets cold I am ready to do some fishing!!! I will do a quick drive by of some of the ponds today to see what this rain and temps did and will let you guys know. Next weekend will be good if it stays this cold and the wind dies down a bit. I'm still up for fishing anywhere so whatever you guys want to do I am with you.

The ice down here is FUBAR big time! We are supposed to have west wind all weekend but the temps are going to be cold so I will cross my fingers. It is going to be cold all next week so I will take a look at Peters when I get off duty Monday morning. Looks like we might have to fish off cape or maybe Peters will be good enough right up to the end of the boat ramp. If it doesn't pan out on the weekend I still want to do some fishing with you guys. At this point I'm ready for Spring to get here so I can go Turkey hunting and catch some Rainbows in open water. I know thats blasphemy here but this ice situation down here on the Cape has me down in the dumps.

I might be able to do it if I can get the Kitchen Pass! She hasn't seen me too much in the last few weeks so it might be a no-go for me. I'll let you know Ron. I might just throw on the imersion suit and go thin ice if I have to. I can sit for 6hrs before i even have to get out if i fall in with that baby on.

Seriously I think it is more like a marsh than anything else. I will go anywhere but we should start the list of definates by Wednesday. Poppa Long Pond Sounds good to me and I'm sure you guys are out and about right now so let me know.

Yeah Ron it was kind of messed up with the wind breaking things up a bit. I didnt check the ramp on peters but im sure it is just like the rest. I saw a few guys out the before last Friday fishing and I saw 2 tip-ups go up in less than 5 minutes. He pulled out a nice fish (couldnt see) but it probably was a trout.

Looks like we are headed up to Harvard next weekend. I am 75% sure I can make it but I have to check with the wife first. Haven't seen her too much lately so there might be a small issue. If I do go I'll be bringing my son with me.

I almost went thru on a pond Monday! I was walking on 4-5" of ice and next thing I know all the ice big time "spider webbed" right under me! I thought that I was going to be FUBAR!! I backed up super slow with it still cracking and after tippie toeing for 10 minutes got back onto thicker ice. The darn ice is so clear on these Cape ponds that it is sometimes hard to tell how thick it really is. Well at any rate I am probably not going to make it this weekend especially with all of the warm temps we are having. I think one scare/close call per week is all I can take. Sorry guys!

The ice is still plenty thick up here in central mass as of today on whitehall it was 8- 10 " of black ice then a 3-4 inch of snow pack and with cold temps at night we will not lose any before the weekend
