NOOB Intro
« on: Jan 26, 2007, 09:24 AM »
My name is BEDO (pronounced BEE-DOUGH) and I'm a FISHAHOLIC! Pretty new to the whole Ice fishing thing, but I love to get a line wet! I'm out here in Rapid City and plan on getting as much fishing done as I can this year!

Welcome to the forum BEDO.  I live in SF but have been trying damn hard to find time to head out to the hills.  Good luck.

Welcome to SD and the shanty. I'm in Aberdeen and may be headed for the hills this summer. Maybe. lol  I'm gonna guess that you are glad to be able to look across the country side and and aren't either looking through a layer of brown air or over the brown stuff when up in the hills. I lived in Colorado for a while and while up in the Rockies there was always a thick brown layer when looking down on the flatlands. I was glad to move back here. I still dislike crowds to this day. Good fishing.

Yup you got it! Here's a little scenerio:

Growing up we had smog indexes and they still do! When I was 23yrs younger out and about playing football or skateboarding I would have to take a break because it felt like I smoked a pack of Reds. Fast forward to this past year in April I went home to visit and normally you wouldn't see Smog until you were past this certain part of the Foothills. Not any more the smog has made it's way past the hills into the High Desert. Another thing I love about here other than fishing, hunting, fresh air is crime! You hardly EVER hear sirens or see police choppers chasing people down the Interstate. I will be one of them transplants that never leave!

Just promise to keep this to yourself. We are being invaded it seems. That coridore from Rapid to Spearfish has been filling up faster than you can keep track. Good to have you here as a South Dakotan. But remember it's a secret. ;D

That would be great. Just tell em to leave the neighbors home. The hills will be where people want to live. We have people from California moving in around here buying 80 acres or so of land and starting hobby farms. Not many of them yet, but I'll bet it is great to live in the country and not lock their doors and nothing gets bothered.  :D ;)

Welcome Rooster.  I'm Rapid as well.  I transplanted here about 8 years ago from the Pittsburgh Area and can't get enough of the Hills.  I'm sure you'll enjoy it here.
