There is NO ICE FISHING on Eighth lake. You will find Eighth Lake comes under General Regulations .It closes Oct 15 and reopens April 1 . But seventh is good all the laker's we catch there are short , Salmon when we get them are nice.

fishnhard, I fished these lakes last year and we did ok. The lakers on 7th usually are at 1" below a keeper.  :( 4th was decent for us too.
As Imoutdoors said the Salmon I've seen were nice on 7th. We did just as good on Raquette lake and will be fishing on all those lakes in the next 2 weeks.

Good Luck & Tight Lines

Just adding, The profile picture I have up of me was taken at 7th lake last year and that is a
16" Trout I jigged up. It turned out to be a sunny and warm 32 degree day after a 2 degree start.

WAS ON THE BACKSIDE OF SEVENTH LAST SUNDAY AND UNDER THE BRIDGE WAS STILL OPEN.  KINDA SUPRISED ME BECAUSE THE LAKE WAS CLOSED UP FOR OVER TWO WEEKS ALONG RTE 28 AND I HAD BEEN TO LAUNCH AREA AND MARKED 6" FRIDAY.  BECAUSE THEY ARE ON A DAM SYSTEM, WITH ALL THE WATER WE'VE HAD OF LATE MAYBE THEY OPENED THE GATES?  I JUST CALLED SOMEONE WHO LIVES ON 7TH AND THEY SAID NO ONE IS SNOWMOBILING IT YET AS OF TODAY.   IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE LAKE COMFORTABLY MAYBE YOU'D BE BETTER OFF ON 4TH. HAVE FISHED IT OFTEN AS IT'S CLOSE TO HOME BUT THE BOYS ABOVE ARE RIGHT.  ALOT OF JUST UNDER, CAN USUALLY LEAVE WITH A LEGAL DINNER AND HAD A BUSY & GREAT DAY.

Thanks for all the info guys, It looks like i'm hitting 4th tomorrow, either off the south end of alger island or another spot, but by the sounds of it, 7th sounds like a good spot to take my boys on a little warmer day. I appreciate all the feedback

I haven't been up that way in 15 years, my wife and I rented a cottage on 4th the year we got married. Beautiful area, would be nice to fish it sometime. Mostly trout I understand on 4th, huh? I really haven't ice fished for trout but, it sounds like a lot of guys really enjoy it! May have to join the Dr. and some others if you don't mind a lesson giving in ice trout 101! ;)

Both 4th and 7th are great for lakers.
The future of our fisheries for our grandchildren depends on the action from fisherman of today.

If the fish are biting or not 7th is a great place to spot an eagle. Seems like every time I'm there catching short laker's and an occasional keeper salmon an eagle comes by. :)
