Hello just wondering what everones favorite kokanee lures are? I've done well on orange kasty's and small orange ice fly's.

A dropper is just a piece of monofilament attached to the bottom of the "flasher"(in this case the pimple)and then to the hook or lure. The flasher acts to lure the fish close and the small hook or lure serves as a "trigger". Maybe they think its a small fish losing a bit of food? This works on just about any panfish and depending on color combo's is Very effective on perch and koke's ;)

Do any of you use a rubber band snubber above the lure? I hear salmon have soft mouths and its needed. Any thoughts?

I never have and usually just lift on the bite instead of "setting" the hook. If you are using mono 20+ ft it will pretty much act like a bungie somewhat anyway. My .02

Perchin,

What bait do you usually use on the dropper hook? Do you ever use Powerbait? Also, do you ever use a little jig on the dropper with bait?

Thanks, I'm heading to 11 Mile on Saturday. Heard the Kokes are biting in about 40' of water. Never caught one; so this could be quite an experience! :D

I use maggots(white or red as the kokes tell me)90% of the time. I also have on hand white shoepeg corn(green giant?)that I use on certain lakes. Be sure NOT to chum with the corn as they cannot digest corn with the shell and they can plug up and die. For chumming I use oatmeal, plain ol' quaker oats, small handful about every half hour in the hole. as it soaks enough water it will fall slowly through the water, if you use a vex or other finder it will confuse your screen and you have to look at the difference between your lure and fish as they move in. For sure, use a jig as your dropper, I suggest a vertical but any glow should work in pink, red, orange, or chartruese(sp?)Glo hooks have taken many a kokanee.Don't be afraid to take 2 or more set-ups with and give each a workout,be prepared to change componants and when you find the magic combo it will work at least 80% of the time on THAT body of water. As far as Powerbait, I have never used it for salmon, but that don't mean it won't work. Give me an update when you get done, bet you kick some tail-fin ;D

Never got into any Kokes today. Fished 11 Mile. Talked with DOW today and he only saw 3 bows and 1 northern iced all day. Tried a dropper using different pimples and kastmasters. Saw northern down the hole but nothing else. Just gonna keep trying!  ;)2
